The second IEA Global Conference on Energy Efficiency, a high-level forum for global engagement and exchange on energy efficiency, will be held in Paris on 29 June 2017.
Top business executives and senior government officials from around the world, including all G20 countries, will share their insights and experience on how energy efficiency has delivered social and economic benefits. The conference, the most significant global energy-efficiency event to date, will be opened by Peter Thomson, the President of the United Nations General Assembly. It will hear from energy ministers from Argentina, Ireland, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates on their progress and reflect on the lessons they have learned.
In the past two years, the IEA has built a global hub for energy efficiency as part of its modernisation agenda, and recently hosted its third annual training week on energy efficiency for emerging countries, with more than 130 public policy-makers and local experts from over 45 emerging and developing countries.
Since November 2015, the IEA has opened its doors to emerging countries, including China, India and Indonesia, and is getting ready to greet new members like Mexico. The new "IEA family" accounts for 70% of global energy use. This global reach allows the IEA to work with developed and emerging countries to support the transformation of the global energy system. Thanks to its leadership in all clean-energy technologies, the IEA is the only international organization with a comprehensive understanding of the entire energy system, including energy security, economic and environmental impacts, and new threats like cyber-resilience.
The full agenda can be found here. The conference will be live-streamed on the IEA's website starting tomorrow at 9:00AM at www.iea.org.
