The Chinese delegation announced at the third plenary meeting of the International Renewable Energy Agency that China will officially join the International Renewable Energy Agency this year, with the aim to promote the establishment of the Global Renewable Energy Market through the strengthening of cooperation between countries in the field of energy technologies.

The Low-carbon Development Blue Book entitled “China Low Carbon Development Report (2013)" was recently released. The report points out that the "12th Five-Year-Plan” period will usher in a period of rapid development in renewable energy in China, with the need to invest about 1.8 trillion yuan for the development of renewable energy. By 2015, China's total utilization of renewable energy will reach 478 million tons of standard coal.
The State Electricity Regulatory Commission recently issued a "Wind Farm Abandoned Wind Power Calculation Method (Trial)", which specifies that when the wind farm is experiencing output restriction, a model machine calculation method will be adopted to calculate the amount of wind power that is restricted. It also makes it clear that no restriction will be imposed on model machines in the wind farms.

According to the monitoring by SERC, in 2012, China's clean energy power generation has grown rapidly, absorbing a total of 1.0662 trillion kWh of clean energy, up 28.5% from the same period of last year, accounting for 21.4% of all electricity connected to the power grid, an increase of 3.9% compared with the same period last year. Hydropower reached 864.1 billion kWh, an increase of 29.3%, nuclear power 98.2 billion kWh, up 12.6% year-on-year, wind power 100.4 billion kWh, an increase of 35.5% year-on-year, and solar power 3.5 billion kWh of, an increase of 414.4%.

According to data released by the China Automobile Industry Association, sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 12,800 in 2012, 11,400 of which were pure electric vehicles, accounting for 89% of the total while 1,416 of which were plug-in hybrids,  accounting for 11%. Based on comparable caliber, sales of pure electric cars in 2012 went up by 103.9% year-on-year. In accordance with the scale of China's car sales of 19.31 million in 2012, the new energy automobile sales accounted for only 0.6%.
