8th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM8) & 2nd Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-2)

The 8th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM8) and 2nd Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-2), bringing together energy ministers, international business leaders and experts from over 20 member countries and the European Commission, will be held in Beijing on 6-8 June 2017.

The CEM focuses on collaboration to scale clean energy technologies and solutions that are available today, while MI focuses on scaling research and development for the new technologies of the future. Members of the two forums represent about 90 percent of global clean energy investment and 75 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions.

CEM8 will highlight the shared leadership driving progress in the clean energy landscape. MI-2 will highlight national and joint progress towards realizing the MI goals.

This year, energy leaders will include: China's Minister Wan Gang from the Ministry of Science and Technology and Administrator Nur Bekri from the National Energy Administration; European Commission's Maroš Šefčovič, Vice President for Energy Union; Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Climate and Energy, India's Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Science & Technology & Earth Sciences, and U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry. Other high-level speakers will include: Lei Zhang, CEO of Envision Energy; Geisha Williams, CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric; Bjorn Otto Sverdrup, SVP for Sustainability at Statoil; Shi Wang, Chairman of Vanke Real Estate; and Bertrand Piccard, Chairman and Pilot with Solar Impulse.

CEM8 and MI-2 will feature:

Working sessions for energy ministers and other high-level policymakers

Public-private action summit with keynote speakers and thematic panel discussions

High-profile announcements from ministers and business leaders on ambitious clean energy efforts

Technology Exhibition demonstrating breakthrough clean energy technologies, products and business models

Innovation Theatre showcasing game-changing clean energy innovations and inspirations

Roundtable discussions with ministers, business leaders, and other clean energy experts, as well as a series of side events, forums, and workshops

After completing the online registration, members of the press must also send an email to the Conference Secretariat at the following address: Mr. YU Guiyong, liason-office@cwea.org.cn. Include full name(s), media organisation and contact information.

Once the online registration is completed and the email received, media representatives will be notified of confirmation and receive media certification. Please note that photo identification and prior registration is required to access the CEM8 and MI-2 events.

Confirmed foreign media must complete all formalities to visit China. Once registered and confirmed, foreign media representatives will be sent a stamped letter of invitation to use for applying for a visa.
