The annual export price of coal was basically determined: FOB of steam coal (not including coal from Shandong ) is US$131.4/t, up 93.52% from the same period last year, and the absolute price is higher than US$125/t set between Australia and Japan with growth rate lower than Australia’s 125%, revealed participants of Sino-Japan negotiation on coal export price yesterday. This indicates the basic conclusion of Sino-Japan negotiation on coal export price.
The price of survival and by the Shenhua Group and Japan's coal resources on the development of the Corporation, from last year's 67.9 U.S. dollars / ton rose 93.52 percent. Prior to that, because of differences between China and Japan too has been unable to reach an agreement, and negotiations have ended, Australia.
The Sino-Japan negotiation on coal export price also includes another type of coal, metallurgical coal. However, Huang Teng, Head of Beijing Changmao Consulting Co., Ltd told reporters yesterday that as China has a small reserve of metallurgical coal, its price is usually adjusted by quality referring to the price set by the Australian party. According to the price agreement reached between Japan and Australia, the growth rate of metallurgical coal is about 200%, about US$300 U.S. dollars per ton.
It’s reported that China exports 30 million-40 million tons of coal per year to Japan, and the supply is usually unstable; while Australia exports more than 200 million tons of coal per year to Japan. Japan, which imports 170 million tons of coal annually, will receive energy guarantee once it agrees on with Australia.
In addition, people question why China still plans to export coal even if it once again becomes a net coal importer after last January with a net import of 1.06 million tons, and particularly 2.75 million tons of net import for March. In response, Huang Teng believes that China has a coal reserve adequate for the future 200 years, which is equivalent to the time period of the world. In his view, each era is dominated by a major type of energy structure, so it’s unnecessary for China to still rely on highly polluted coal and stubbornly preserve energy sources for the offspring when other countries are all consuming clean energy. In addition, China is one of the largest coal exporter in the world. Once it suddenly stops export, it will lead to the sudden imbalance of coal supply in the world, which is an irresponsible act for the global community.
