Siberia Energy Company, the biggest power coal production enterprise in Russia, is to gradually increase its coal export to the Asia Pacific market. It is likely to double in the next 4 years. A new coal dock in the company's Russian Far East Vanino Port will be commissioned for use in October 2008. The Siberia Energy Company estimated in 2009 Vanino Port can export 4 million tons of coal and by 2012 its maximum throughput can reach 12 million tons per year.
At the moment the company exports 24 million tons of coal per year, 6 million of which goes to the Asia Pacific market. Apart from Vanino Port, Siberia Energy Company and other companies have export license in Dongfang Port. Siberia Energy Company exports around 5 million tons of coal via the Dongfang Port per year. But since Vanino Port is commissioned for use in October 2008, Siberia Energy Company plans to transfer some of the coal export from Dongfang Port to Vanino Port. The current total throughput in Dongfang Port is 15 million tons per year. Siberia Energy Company claims in 2006 Russian coal trade on the sea was 75.5 million tons and in 2006 it was close to 85 million tons.
