Since the world famous direct coal-oil conversion project of Shenhua Group was launched, the first production line has been finished and entered the commissioning state. It is expected to go into trial production in this September.
As a national key project, the direct coal-oil conversion project of Shenhua Group is located in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It started construction in August 2004. Close to China Shenhua Coal Liquefaction Corporation Ltd., two huge 60m-high coal liquefaction reactors can be seen from afar. There are cincturing pipelines around the plant, with oil storage and hydrogen-making devices put in order. Engineering staff are preparing for trial production.
The direct coal liquefaction project of Shenhua Group with a scale of 5 million tons, consists of two phases. The first phase is composed of three production lines, with a total installed capacity of 3.2 million tons. Of the total, the first production line with an investment of 12.3 billion yuan, can convert 3.5 million tons of coal, and produce 1.08 tons of diesel, liquefied petroleum gas, naphtha and other products.
According to the plan, if the first production line smoothly goes into production this year, Shenhua Group will build another two production lines for the first phase in 2010 or so.
