Unit 19 in the Three Gorges Dam Right Bank Hydropower Station completed the 72-hours test run successfully at 17:00 on the 18th of June. It was officially commissioned for production and passed to the Three Gorges Power Plant for operational management.
This is the 9th out of the 12 units in the right bank power station as well as the 23rd units with 700,000 KW commissioned for production in the Three Gorges Dam Project. It is designed and made by Alstom and installed by Sinohydro Engineering Bureau No.4. Installation started on the 27th of July, 2007. Test of no water in the lock chamber and other relevant checks were completed at the end of May 2008.
The test run shows, all operation measurements in Unit 19 is excellent, each of the supportive systems is also fully functional and runs smoothly. The unit was handed over to the Three Gorges Power Plant for production.
The Three Gorges Dam Project's initial design is to install 26 units of 700,000 KW each. So far 23 units have been commissioned for production. The rest 3 units will be completed and ready for production with the year.
