The Ministry of Commerce Spokesman Shen Danyang said at a regular press briefing on the 20th of February that regarding EU “anti-dumping and anti-subsidy” case against Chinese export of solar products, the Ministry of Commerce is in consultation with relevant stakeholders and is preparing relevant counter actions.

China Wind Energy Association recently announced that China abandoned over 20 billion kWh of wind power in 2012. The data from the National Bureau of Statistics also show that apart from a small number of turbine manufacturers that had increased production in 2012, the whole wind turbine manufacturing industry in China had generally reduced production.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Guangdong Provincial Party Secretary Hu Chunhua recently inspected Mingyang Wind Power. He encouraged the enterprise to grow bigger and stronger, adding that the Guangdong provincial government will further increase support. In addition, Deputy Director Liang Zhipeng of the New Energy and Renewable Energy Department of the National Energy Board, recently revealed at a Wind Power New Year Tea Party that the National Energy Board had begun to pay attention to the policy of replacing small wind turbines with big ones and replacing old turbines with new ones.

The National Energy Board, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Land and Resources and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development have jointly issued Guidance Notes on the Promotion of Geothermal Energy Development and Utilization. The document states that by 2015, the national geothermal heating area will reach 500 million square meters, with a geothermal power installed capacity of 100,000 kilowatts. The central government finance will focus on support for geothermal resource exploration and assessment, geothermal heating and cooling projects, power generation and comprehensive utilization demonstration projects.
