It is learned from the National Bureau of Statistics that in August the electric power generation across the country was 498.7 billion KWh, rose by 13.4% compared to that of the same period of last year and created record high since June of 2011.
Electricity consumption has been deemed as one of the wind vane which reflects economical operations. Han Xiaoping, CIO of China Energy Net expressed when interviewed by media, that the recovery of overall economy is the driving factor for the electricity consumption surge. The data from the Bureau of Statistics shows that in August, the increasing value from the up-scale businesses rose by 10.4% compared to that of the same period of last year, saw a 0.7% faster than that in July. And 305 out of 464 kinds of products increased on a year-on-year basis. The output of steel and cement rose by 15.6% and 8.2% respectively on year-on-year basis, while processing output of crude oil rose by 5.5% on a year-on-year basis. Besides from the warming trends of economy, Han Xiaoping believes that the high-temperature weather had been an effecting factor too. Besides, the low increasing speed of electricity generation in last August has also highlighted the increasing speed of this year.
Along with the significant increase of electricity generation, the data published by most provinces shows that the electricity consumption in August also increased significantly. In August, the electricity consumption in Jiangxi province rose by 15.9% compared to that of the same period of last year, created a record high for one single month. In Shanxi province, the total electricity consumption across the society in August rose by 7.2% compared to that of the same period of last year and the increasing speed was a record high since May. The increasing speed in Jiangsu, Hubei, and Henan provinces was also around 20% and, in Anhui province, the increasing speed even reached 30.18%, while in Zhejiang the electricity consumption in August was 15.2%. It is estimated that in August, the total electricity consumption across whole society in August is expected to be a two-digit growth.
According to reports, it is preliminarily guessed and estimated that, the total electricity consumption across the whole society in August exceeded 510 billion KWh, rose by 14.5% compared to that of the same period of last year, created a record high in eighteen months.
